CLASS LOAD SUPPORT |
|
ACME
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL |
Student numbers
have been dropping consistently for the past three years at Acme School.
Fewer students mean fewer dollars available to hire staff. Working with the
teachers’ union and district guidelines, we do our best to create classes
with a balance of students. This year, we did not have enough students to
maintain our ¾ combination or a second Kindergarten class. When there are
not enough students enrolled to create another class, the district has
several ways to provide support for larger classes.
This year it was
determined that our 1st– 4th Grade classes were all eligible for class load
support. The district allocated specific funds to Acme. The affected
teachers determined what would best help them in the classroom. This year
Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Murray selected the purchase of a document camera and
projector for each of their classrooms. Mrs. Ebert, Mrs. Bruntil and Mrs.
Hubbert have decided to add para-educator time to support students in the
classroom. In all decisions the teachers considered the specific needs of
their students and how best to support the learning for the remainder of the
school year.
