Attention Acme Families! A form for ordering Summer Bridge Activity workbooks has been sent home. Samples of the books are available to see in the office. Orders are due by 5/22/08. Workbooks will be sent home with students the last week of school. Any questions feel free to call Justina Bass @ 595-2273 A Note From The Library As the school year winds down, please keep your eyes open looking for lost library books. They may be hiding under the bed, or in the car! Turn them in to the library as soon as you find them. Placement Forms for Next Year They have been mailed out and should be in your mailboxes very soon. These are very important in helping place your children next year. Please take the time to fill them out and send them back by May 16th. This information assists us in planning for next year. KINDERGARTEN 08/09 - We registered 17 kids for next year. Thank you to all who took the time to come in and register, it is a big help in planning for next year. There are still some out there who need to come in and register. You may do so by calling the office @ 383-2045 and making an appointment with Michelle. Please remember to bring a birth certificate and immunization records. ACME ELEMENTARY COMPOSTING NEWS - Acme Elementary School continues to excel with our composting efforts. In April we collected almost 4 cubic yards of compostable materials. That’s twice the size of our garbage dumpster and calculates out to a composting rate of 32%. Each person’s “average pounds diverted” was over 2.7 pounds for the month. That’s awesome! WRITING IMPROVEMENT ACTION PLAN - The Acme staff is working to improve the writing abilities of Acme students. Follow the link to see the action plan that has been developed to accomplish this goal. ACME PRINCIPAL ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT - 37-year veteran teacher and principal Ellyn Erickson will retire at the end of this year. Long-time Mount Baker School District teacher Kent Rogers has been named as her replacement. Read Mrs. Erickson's open letter to the Mount Baker community. SECRETS OF EXCELLENT STUDENTS - The best students have similar traits. CLASS LOAD SUPPORT - Read on for information about how Acme is using its resources this year to the best advantage of the students. HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILDREN WITH HOMEWORK - Here are some common-sense guidelines to help students succeed with homework. PARKING FOR EVENTS AT SCHOOL - The neighbors have asked that we remind everybody that when attending events at school, please make sure that you are parking on school property. Also. Please do not park in front of the bus garage or garbage cans. This pertains to any time of the day or night.
PERSONAL PROPERTY REMINDER Cell Phones, IPods, cassette players, radios, gameboys, sports equipment, trading cards and such are not allowed at school. These expensive pieces of personal property are often damaged or misplaced. They may also create distractions in the classrooms. Some bus drivers allow students to use these items. They must be secured in backpacks during the school day. Students may ride their bikes to school. Bicycles should be locked when parked at school. The school does not assume responsibility for stolen or damaged bicycles. We hope to see all bike riders wearing helmets and using safe bicycles rules. Failure to follow school and safety rules will result in loss of bike riding privileges. Skateboards and roller blades are not allowed on the school premises. CLOTHING GUIDELINE REMINDER An individual’s grooming, the way he/she dresses, and how he/she behaves does have a bearing on how others react to him/her. It is recommended that dress and grooming is clean and tidy; however, if a style demonstrates that it is disruptive to the educational process of the child and/or others, or constitutes a threat to safety and health of self or others, it may not be permitted in school. Students are not to wear any clothing having abusive, obscene, or suggestive language written on it. Consistent with the district’s support of a drug - alcohol - weapon - free learning environment, we ask that students not wear clothing that promotes those items. Male or female students in a school building shall not wear hats, caps, scarves or similar headgear. Shorts must be finger-tip in length (mid-thigh) and tops must not reveal the mid-riff or have thin spaghetti type straps. Makeup and other grooming products are discouraged. Clothing that is neat and clean, and in harmony with normal community standards of appropriate dress and good taste, is always acceptable. Ideally, within these limits the decision regarding attire and grooming shall be left to the good judgment and responsibility of the individual and his/her parents/guardians.
SCHOOL PERFORMANCE REPORT FOR ACME ELEMENTARY - OSPI provides a "report card" for every school in the state. WASL scores and demographic data about our district are provided. Follow this link to get data about Acme Elementary.

Welcome to beautiful downtown Acme, Washington, home of Acme Elementary School. The rural setting of the South Fork Valley provides a wonderful variety of opportunities for our students. Our 262 students will be found in Kindergarten through Sixth Grades. A quick tour of the building may show students in a variety of classroom activities and groupings. Cross grade activities, small group instruction, assemblies, group projects, and much more provide a wealth of educational alternatives for our students.
The data in this web site was prepared by school district personnel, building staff, and the Acme Steering Committee. It provides us with an opportunity to share with the Acme School community, as well as the internet community, information about who we are, what we are doing and where we are going.
Our goal for this web site is to provide you with useful information. Any feedback that you have is encouraged and welcome. If you have suggestions for additions or general comments, please contact us at school.
