Math: We completed our unit on fractions and percents. The next unit revisits adding and subtracting fractions, mixed numbers, and improper fractions. Look for fractions in the kitchen and analog clock face. Science: We are continuing our unit on variables, concentrating on experiments that have controlled variables, and changing only one variable at a time.

Student contracts: During the year, many of our 20 students will have individual learning contracts. These contracts vary in scope but generally they are set up to allow the students to learn by "their own time clocks." In a helpful way, students take responsibility for their own learning, behavior, and class citizenship. Written contracts are reviewed and signed by myself and the students as a record of agreement. They are kept in desks for access and review.
