Critical thinking: The first critical thinking skill taught is Grouping: Putting objects into groups that have similar properties. (color, texture, pointy, smooth etc.) |

Math: Place value, time, and money. Addition/subtraction timings. Third graders are working on telling time: nearest 5 and 1 minute. Fact Families: Math timings Count by 10's or 100's forward and backward from 1000 We are attempting problem solving skills with word problems, using words, number, and/or pictures to explain their thinking. Science: We will start a unit on Water on 10/5. Students examine properties of water, and solubility and solution. |
◙ Student contracts: During the year, many of our 21 students will have individual learning contracts. These contracts vary in scope, but generally they are set up to allow the students to learn by "their own time clocks." In a helpful way, students take responsibility for their own learning, behavior, and class citizenship. Written contracts are reviewed and signed by myself and the students as a record of agreement. They are kept in a file for access and review by students.
