ACME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Acme Steering Committee Minutes April 25, 2001 Members
Present:

Absent: Tom

Class Configuration Survey
- The returned Class Configuration Surveys were reviewed and data collected.
We had a return rate of 59%(144 surveys), which is excellent.
The return by grade is as follows: K-38%, 1st-71%, 2nd-80%,
3rd-52%, 4th-46% & 5th-61%.
The composite results are that the majority of parents prefer single
grade classrooms, followed closely with single grade classrooms with the option
of looping with the same teacher for two consecutive years.
Combined classrooms with or without looping as an option were not a first
or second choice preference by any parents.
It seems quite clear that our community/parents prefer single grade
classrooms. 2.
Parent-Student-Teacher Agreement - Shannon
has made the revisions on her 3.
Homework Policy - The
other elementary schools in the district are creating very specific Homework Policies for their students.
We talked about whether that was something
that we needed to revisit as a staff and committee.
We will read Harmony's policy and discuss it next time. New Items: 1.
Student
Placement Survey - We
reviewed last year's version of this document.
Several suggestions were made to help parents understand that they should
not request a specific teacher. The
revisions were made and the letter will go out in the mail to every parent.
The due date is May 18th so that we can compile the data
before the May 25th Teacher work day.
That day we will be creating tentative class lists. 2.
Elementary Specialist Task Force Up-date - The composite survey data for all elementary schools and the Acme
Specific data was distributed and discussed.
This will remain an ongoing challenge for the task force to determine the
most effective use of this opportunity. 3.
Computer
Lab Supervision Proposal - Ellyn
presented a proposal to the ASC asking for district support ($) to provide 10
additional hours a week in classified Basic Education time.
The proposal would provide 30 minutes a week of supervised time in the
computer lab. This would be for the
teacher and a classified supervisor to provide specific instruction on the use
of our new technology. Ellyn will
present this proposal, along with the building and community data to support the
project. Other: Next Meeting:
Wednesday, May 2, 2001.
