Packet - We
discussed the omission of term limits in the revised packet.
A page needs to be inserted to specify the length of 2 years for each
member's term. They can be selected
for a second term by their group. We
are searching for the revisions that were made last Spring for inclusion in a
new document. HELP! 2.
Teacher/Class Assignments - We discussed the process used to provide teacher
input in the assignment of teachers to grade levels within the building.
Then we discussed the process that we use to create tentative class lists
in the spring. We then discussed
the adjustments made before the lists are posted the week before school starts.
During the school year the It was a very productive discussion. ASC members who are not teachers were very pleased to have
the process explained. New Items: 1.
Acme
Building Budget –
Ellyn reviewed the district need for budget reallocation for the 2001-2002
school year. We examined the effect
of those adjustments on the Acme Building Budget.
The
ASC decided to move $20,183 from Administrative Match Funds to replace
the money lost from our proposed Building Budget.
That leaves $7437 in the Administrative Match Fund to be utilized
for High Needs Students/Projects as we did last year. We believe that this
decision creates the best use of funds for meeting the needs of the building and
students. There will not be a need
to eliminate any materials or supplies that are needed throughout the year.
It is imperative that the ASC receive monthly budget updates to monitor
the expenditure of funds. This
monitoring will be by line item not by staff or grade level.
The ASC fully supports the belief that we teach all children and the
resources are to be accessible from a general fund.
This reduces the divisiveness that can occur with hoarding and limiting
of funds by grade level. 3.
Juice
Machine - The ASC agreed with the
staff decision to remove the current

school bus orientation program that was initiated at Kendall last week.
As the buses arrive in the morning each driver conducts a structured 30
minute orientation on loading, unloading, emergency drills, discipline plan and
general bus expectations. Walkers can be added to those buses so that they will know
what to expect when they ride the bus for a field trip. The ASC unanimously endorsed the program and directed Ellyn
to investigate the implementation here at Acme.
Ron Bruland and Frank Cain in Transportation were both very enthusiastic
about our implementation. We need
to select a day and the drivers will take it from there. Other:
