New Issues:

1.  Membership – Dick Vollmer has joined the ASC as a Parent Representative for the upper grades.    Betty Ensley has replaced Linda Nieuwendorp as the Classified representative.  Linda was unable to continue on the committee due to a Scheduling conflict.   We have asked for another Bus Driver Representative for the year.  Letters of invitation were sent to each Acme Driver.  We hope to have some response before the November meeting.

2.ASC Operating Procedures – Because there were two new members of the AASC, we reviewed the current operating procedures for the group.   Once again a BIG thank you to Libby for retyping the document last year.  It looks very nice.

3. School Improvement Plan – The committee reviewed the 2002-2003 Acme School Improvement Plan, the School Board Strategic Plan and the School Board Action Plan.  We discussed how the goals and objectives of the School Board and the school are aligned to help us maximize our individual efforts to further the common goals.

4. Issue Concern Form – Internet Posting of Student information – A parent submitted an Issue/Concern Form with supporting information questioning the posting of student data on the district, school or classroom websites.  This issue was referred to Mark Venn and the District Technology Committee to determine what guidelines are most appropriate for our community.  We are very interested in the development of guidelines that are especially sensitive to elementary school issues.   The parent raised some very good questions and we were appreciative of her use of the ASC process to present her concerns.  A letter will be written to the parent describing the steps that were taken and the process that will now unfold at the District Level.

In Process:

1.School performance Report – Ellyn shared the new format for the state required School Performance Report.  This year Ellyn will complete the text portions and send them to Bev Eggers for inclusion into the district template.  This is a vast improvement over the initial reports that we were required to create several years ago.  Due date for this project is November 1^st. to the district office.  That will permit Bev time to reformat the data in to the template for publication.

2.  School Discipline/Honor Plan – We briefly reviewed the purpose of the discipline plan and the EOM Assemblies and EO Trimester Big Events.  Ellyn was given permission to schedule the Fall EOT Big Event.  We had tentatively scheduled the Native Dancers/Drummers from the Nooksack tribe.  We have not had a confirmation of that performance, so Ellyn will follow up.
