ACME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Acme Steering Committee Minutes Members Present: Jackie Ebert, Ellyn Erickson, Kathy Scodeller, Diane Leigh, Lillian Green, Dick Vollmer & Betty Ensley Members Absent: Libby Westdal, Melinda Smull, New Issues: 1. School Improvement Plan Progress – We reviewed the current version of the Acme 2002-2003 School Improvement Plan. We noticed that there are some changes in the plan that have not been documented in the packet. Ellyn will talk to the SIP Team Leaders for clarification and updates on the planned activities for the year. In Process: 1. Parent Communication Survey – We reviewed the returned Parent Communication Survey information. There were 68 surveys returned from a potential 182 families, representing 38%. We discussed how to publish the results to make them user friendly. We decided to keep the comments next to the original question. We will use the same format for all publications of this information. We will publish the survey responses and comments on the Website and in a hard copy document to be distributed to families. Ellyn will respond to the questions in the “Glad You Asked” portion of the Monday Notes and publish them also on the website.
One of the comments in the survey was to have more information about the Acme Staff. Ms Leigh volunteered her class to interview all staff members for a regular “Spotlight on Staff” feature in the Monday Notes. Diane will design the interview questions with the class. They may use e-mail for part of the interview, in order to expedite the process.
There were a number of excellent suggestions for Parent Education Classes. Ellyn will pursue some of them with the School Safety Initiative currently in progress with the American Red Cross. 2. Confidentiality Letter Reaction – We had hoped to discuss the reaction to the Monday Notes article about the need for the confidentiality letter for volunteers. Libby had brought the issue to our attention, but was unable to attend the meeting today. All of the current Acme Volunteers have received their copy of the letter. In the future the letter will accompany the original WSP Form so that prospective volunteers will be aware of their responsibilities before completing the application. Next Meeting: TBA Other Topics to revisit: Reaction to the Monday Notes article about Volunteer letter
