New Issues:

1. School-wide Title I Project – Pat Bieber

Pat shared the concept of School-wide Title I with us.  The change in the federal requirements for Free and Reduced lunch helped Acme qualify for application this year.  We have done so much planning already with the School Improvement Teams, that we are ready to actually write our application proposal.  Pat will work with the staff to create that plan.  Ellyn, Pat and Robin Bruntil will be attending a conference in Yakima to learn more about the process. (Hand out)

2. Parent-Student-Teacher Agreement - Ellyn

With the application for Schoolwide Title I, we need to have some sort of Parent Compact.  Ellyn presented the Parent Teacher Student Agreement that we worked on a few years ago.  We agreed to use this in the Fall.  We will have them printed in color for each student.  Then the Teachers and Students will read and sign their portion of the agreements.  The Fall Ice Cream Social-Curriculum Night will be the “Kick Off” for the agreement.  The Agreement will go home for Parents to sign. When they are returned they will go in the front of each child’s binder or Take-Home Folder to remind them of their promises.  We will have a large copy made for the front hall Bulletin Board for the beginning of the year.  (Hand out - .pdf version)

3. School Improvement Plan for 2003-2004 – Ellyn

Ellyn presented the most recent version of our plan.  We reviewed the activities and the expenses for the plan.  The plan for the school wide Title I will follow the same goals and objectives as our SIP.  (Hand out)

4. Review Student Placement Request form/letter/process

We reviewed the letter, forms and process for class assignment of students.  Each student is described as a learner by their teacher and their parents. This information along with test results and behavior records help the sending teachers and receiving teachers create class lists for the coming year.  The Learning Support Teachers and the Counselor help us in our discussions.  (Hand outs of letter & form)

5. Possible Class Configurations

The packet of possibilities was shared with the ASC.  There are a number of challenges with declining enrollment.  WE are sending 48 Sixth Graders on to the Seventh Grade and are moving only 22 Kindergarteners in to First Grade.  That is a reduction of 26 students.  The projections for next year are to drop from 13 Teachers with 2 sections of each grade to 11.5 Teachers.  How we configure those teachers and students is still to be determined.  (Hand out)

6. ICF from the Box!

We received an Issue Concern Form from a student asking us to consider placing a reader board in front of the school.  The committee decided to do several things in response:  Ask the Fire Hall if we can post information on their board, research the number of cars that would actually wee a reader board on this campus, research the cost and regulations for reader boards.  Harmony has one, so we can check with their Principal for costs and permits.

Next Meeting:  May 28, 2003  (I double-checked this time! J  )
