Wed. February 1 “Study Team Nuts and Bolts”

After a thorough discussion we decided to turn this presentation over to Dr. Gary Wall.  He will use the powerpoint presentation as well as the Study Team Procedures Manual to explain the formation, activities and product of the study team.   This meeting will be open to all staff members who are interested.  Flex-time or Comp-time will be used to compensate the classified staff members who participate.

Wed. February 8 “Study Team Volunteers only”

Jackie will facilitate a meeting of all those staff members who are interested in participating in the writing study team.  She will survey the group to see if we can find a representative for each of the 3 grade level bands: K-2, 3-4 & 5-6.  We would like to have at least one classified employee on the team also.  Jackie will use some informal process tools to determine membership in the Acme Writing Study Team.   After that is complete, they will determine the best ways to schedule the time needed to complete the study team process:  Sub-time, Curriculum pay for time outside of the school day, or a combination of both.

There will be two days at the ESD for the “Digging Deeper” portion of the research.  Trina will be part of the team to fill us in on the research that was done by the Literacy Team as they worked to develop the current writing curriculum.   Gary will once again be our guide to make certain that we follow the appropriate steps to create a viable Action Plan.

2.  ALT Procedures Manual revision

Gary talked about the need to create school wide structures that assure the continuation of collaborative leadership that has begun with the CSI process.  We looked at the “Wallingford School” Decision Making Council by laws and the most current procedures manual for our former Acme Steering Committee.    Our homework for the next meeting is to look over both formats and consider what elements we want to keep from the ASC manual and what elements we want to consider from the “Wallingford School” model.

In Process:  CSI Planning and work toward a Writing Action Plan by this May!!!

1.  Membership

Need to put out feelers for Parents.  Would be especially helpful to have parents of Special Education or Title I students in the group.
