ACME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Acme Leadership Team Minutes September 28, 2005 Members Present:, Jackie Ebert, Ellyn Erickson, Diane Leigh, Betty Ensley, Libby Westdal, Michelle Coburn, Amy Chase Members Absent: Dick Vollmer New Issues: 1. Introductions Libby has moved from Parent Member to Community Member with the advancement of her son to the Jr. High. We discussed the possibility of adding a ParaEducator to the team. Betty Ensley will survey the ParaEds to determine who they would like to represent them on this team. We will need to determine the exact cost for compensation for all staff members to see if there is enough funding available in the Leadership Budget. We will work with Gary Wall to determine other funding sources to help cover the time involved in preparation for staff work as well as the other meetings regularly scheduled during the year. 2. Name Change This group has formerly been called the Acme Steering Committee. Its charge was to be a place to resolve issues for all members of the Acme School Community as well as to be an avenue to communicate student progress and school reform. With the initiation of our Continuous School Improvement Model there was a need for a Leadership Team to direct the various process activities needed to create and monitor an effective school improvement plan. The duties and role of the Leadership Team is similar in some ways, but very different in the role of facilitation. The CSI Model provides us with a coach to teach us how to lead the group. Gary Wall is our coach. 3. Calendarization of ALT CIS Activities We discussed the need to present the latest student data on Writing, Reading and Mathematics to the entire staff. We discussed a variety of ways to provide time for the Mini-Carousel. After examining a number of proposals we decided to use our ”Chunked Day” to provide time for the actual Mini-carousel. We will use a Wednesday afternoon that was tentatively scheduled for study team work as out preparation time. We will create the posters, response materials and lesson plan for the carousel.
Then we determined the time needed for the actual examination of student data and selected the flowing dates:
(4:00 – 6:00 = 2 hours DDD Chunked) In Process: 1. Membership Need to put out feelers for Parents. Would be especially helpful to have parents of Special Education or Title I students in the group. Next Meeting: October 12, from 3:40 – 4:30 to create the materials for the Mini-carousel. We will use the October 26th Meeting to create the actual lesson plans for reviewing the Data-Carousel process and set the ground rules for the carousel
