October 26, 2005

New Issues:

1.  Planning for Mini-Carousel

The team outlined the dates and activities for the next four All Staff CSI meetings as well as the planning meetings interspersed:

          November 21*        Finalize Lesson Plans for Mini-Carousel - 3:40 -4:45

          November 30         Re-teach Carousel Process Lesson to All Staff - 3:40 – 4:30 pm

          December 1            All Staff Mini Carousel – Content areas of Mathematics, - Thursday - Writing & Reading (@ District Office) - 3:40 – 6:00 pm

          December 15*        Prepare for January CSI Meetings-  3:40-4:30

          January 4              All Staff Theming - Original Narratives and mini-narratives - 3:40 – 4:30

          January 11             All Staff – Goal Writing -Bone Diagram – Interrelationship Diagram - 3:40 – 5:00

2. We determined the specific activities, processes and materials that we will use for our All Staff CSI Meetings. 

Day 1:  Mini-Carousel:  Part I

                     Wednesday, November 30, 3:40 – 4:30 @ Acme Library

                     Certificated: Staff Meeting Time        Classified: Flex-time

                      (need snacks & heat)

 1.  Big Picture Frame – Ellyn                Powerpoint ?

                       Use the graphic from Linda Dobbs that follows the same pattern as the teaching

                             learning cycle.  Show everyone where we have been, where are we now and where

                             are we going in the short term and the long term.  

 2.  9/12 Plus/Delta  -  Michelle

Return the Plus/Deltas look over the Pluses first, then the Delta’s point out where they cancel each other out.  Speak to the specific changes that we have made in our planning to meet the needs of the group.  Mini-Carousel on most current student achievement data.

3.  Narratives:  Why and How – Amy & Diane           Powerpoint?

Using the process outline from the original packet we will are examine narratives and determine the important characteristics.  Examples and non-examples will be analyzed and teams will share their findings.  Group will critique narratives.

Day 2:  Mini-Carousel:  Part II

                     Thursday, December 1, 4:00 – 6:00 @ District Office

                     Certificated: 2 hours of “Chunked DDD”                   Classified:  Flex-time

                      (Need snacks, beverages, & at least a 10 minute break, Colored Pens,

                             Data Posters, Tape, Narrative Posters,

1.  Point out Data Stations around the room – Gary

                       Each is numbered.  You will be assigned to a numbered station to begin.

2.  Group staff and get them to their beginning station – Jackie

                       Each group will begin at an odd numbered station.    Monitors will be at each content area which contains three posters.  Floating monitors will move to any station that has two groups at the came content areas.

3.  Begin the Carousel  - Ellyn

                              Remind groups to use stars for ideas that they agree with, Not to worry about each group seeing everything in a station.

4.  Plus/Delta

Day 3:  Structured Gazing and Theming

                     Wednesday, January 4, 3:40 – 5:00 @ Acme Library

                     Certificated:  1.0 hr. CSI time                   Classified:  Flex-time

                      (Need snacks, beverages, & at least a 5 minute break, Colored Pencils,

                             Narrative handouts for both carousels, heat)

2.  Use graphic for “Where are we now & what is next?”

This refocuses all on the path and our progress.

This will determine our first priority for a goal.

5.  Smart Goal Teams – Jackie

Need several teams to write potential SMART Goals for us to discuss next time. We will post and have a facilitator available on one day for all staff to read and respond to the potential goals.

6.  Plus/Delta

Day 4:  Goal selection – Study Team Selection

                     Wednesday, January 11, 3:40 – 5:00 @ Acme Library

                     Certificated:  1.0 hr. CSI time                   Classified:  Flex-time

                      (Need snacks, beverages, & at least a 5 minute break, handouts, heat)

Use the bone diagram to clarify what we are doing and what is preventing us from reaching our goal now.

Need to put out feelers for Parents.  Would be especially helpful to have parents of Special Education or Title I students in the group.
