ACME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Acme Leadership Team Minutes March 21, 2007 Members Present: Jackie Ebert, John Mumma, Jon Anderson, Justina Bass, Alicia Scott & Ellyn Erickson Members Absent: In Process: 1. School Improvement Plan – Implementation Report Each Grade Level band is preparing for the next round of lessons and assessment. 2. Budget – Nothing New for this meeting Ellyn is watching the monthly balance and hoping that there will be funds available to provide some listening stations for those classrooms without. 3. SIP Site Visit – Follow-up The ALT members who participated in the site visit shared the big picture about the visit. The Site Visit Team will need to meet and determine how to share out their specific observations. The Site Visit Team will determine the activities that would best fit that purpose. 4. Norms of Collaboration - Each of the Grade Level Band representatives shared their newly determined Norms. They will be added to the ALT Bylaws and distributed to staff members. 5. Collaboration Time Options One of the general needs for the grade level band teams was more time to work together. The ALT reviewed the most recent revision of ways to create more shared time. All Certificated Staff have 7 additional hours of Chunked Day Time to use before the end of the school year. Because the Waiver Day #3 was originally slated for collaborative work, the intent for the Chunked Day is to provide time for collaborative projects outside of the school day. The application documents have been revised to emphasize the use of those 7 hours before other options are requested. They will be retyped and distributed to all certificated staff members. 6. Safe School Communication Skills - Update from GLBs The GLBs met and discussed the revised documents. They recommended that we add the Kindergarten Skills to the Social Skills document. They do work on the skills, but are not listed in the documentation. Ellyn will work with Elizabeth to make that addition. We will make certain that the information gets out in the Monday Notes as well as the Parent Handbook. It was suggested that we add this portion of the handbook to the “Must Read – Sign & Return” slip that we currently use for the discipline and behavior portions. It was also discussed that Elizabeth participate in our Curriculum Night, Back to School BBQ and other events that provide parents an opportunity to meet her. 7. Guidelines for Food Served at Room Parties – Update from GLBs The purpose of distributing this document and asking teams to discuss it was to raise the awareness level of staff. There will most likely be Requirements rather that Recommendations for food served at school in the near future. Our Insurance group has been moving toward that expectation in the recent past. 8. Classroom Access Guidelines – Update from GLBs The teams all agreed that these procedures were appropriate and reasonable. The documents will be distributed to all staff in the fall of each year. 9. Garbage Audit Information – Updates from GLBs So much to teach and recycling, too? There were some excellent suggestions about signage and different containers for paper towels and other non-garbage items from the classroom. Most felt it was just a mater of time and reminders to help us all remember what goes where. New Topics: 1. 2. 3. Next Meeting: April 18, 2007 (This has been changed to an all staff meeting on April 25th from 3:30 – 4:30 to discuss the Site Visit.) Agenda items may be added to the agenda posted in the staff room or through the use of an Issue Concern Form.
