Distribute Specials across the week rather than blocking two days a week.

ParaEds could supervise SSR

We reviewed the collected survey comments and looked for themes.  The themes that emerged are listed in the chart above.

2.  Begin layers of schedule

We started with a copy of the current master schedule posted on the wall, a schedule with only Lunch/Recess/Literacy Blocks marked and sticky notes for all of the various activities that needed to be placed.  We talked about Jessica and Fran’s 6.0 hour per day calendars and schedules

Music/Library w/ Specialist – We began with the specialist schedules and tried to distribute them across the week, noting which days were designated for which grades in the library.

PE w/ Gym access limits – These activities were layer in next.  After numerous rearrangements and discussions, we were able to fit all of them into the master plan.

Next we looked at the total amount of planning time for each teacher, using the release time provided in the schedule.  We needed to adjust some areas to reach equity.  The difference between 30 and 40 minute Library lessons by grade level does present some challenges.

3.  Create First DRAFT

We were able to agree upon the final DRAFT with some adjustments for more planning time for specific grades on Mondays where we have not specialist.

4.  Determine how to present DRAFT to staff.

The team asked to use the Grade Level Band meeting time scheduled for this afternoon aw a general staff meeting.  We will review the survey data, have grade level bands examine the schedule, have a general discussion and then use a Consensogram to determine the acceptance of the DRAFT.  If we need to rework areas, the ALT will do those adjustments.

5.  Final Plan

The final plan will be refined and presented with exact times prior to implementation on November19th, the First day of the 2nd Trimester.
