ACME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Acme Steering Committee Minutes
January 12, 2000
Members Present: Trina Hall, Kim
Sutherland, Erika Alexander, Ellyn Erickson, Bob Baker, Chris Murray
Guests Present: none
New Items:
Barbara Tanis was recognized for her dedication to the ASC. She has
resigned due to personal reasons.
Ellyn reviewed the letter sent to families to recruit additional ASC
members. She has not yet had any response from the letters. There has been
one parent who has inquired about being a part of the ASC. A note will be
put in the Monday notes to remind parents.
A concern was placed in the box from a para-educator which addressed the 5th/6th
grade rainy day recess. Their lunches are broken up between lunch, recess,
and study hall. For the last 20 minutes of their "lunch block" all
students are at recess. Solution has already been solved….for rainy days,
they will be in the gym playing games and doing quite activities.
The students' behavior at the Boys & Club is still unacceptable,
especially in the library. The students are not following the same
guidelines as they do during the day. One possible solution is to have some
"training" for the Boys & Girls Club staff member. The big
problem seems to be the lack of consequences for kids when they do not
follow the rules. Ellyn will do an email to the staff for more specific
feedback addressed at building safety and child safety. She will then invite
Mike Baker & Audrey to the ASC meeting on January 26th to
communicate the feedback. We will use that meeting as a problem solving
session because we do support the Boys & Girls Club being here at Acme.
We made a list of all of the items that need to be done before the end of
