ACME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Acme Steering Committee Minutes
January 26, 2000
Members Present: Libby Westdal, Trina
Hall, Kim Sutherland, Erika Alexander, Ellyn Erickson, Bob Baker, Michelle
Anderson
Guests Present: none
New Items:
- There was an issue brought to the ASC by a staff member regarding gum at
school. Gum seems to be appearing on the lunch trays, rolled in balls and
thrown in class, and on the bus. According to the Acme Parent Handbook,
the rules state "Leave gum and candy at home." The ASC
determined that gum should not be allowed at school because it is being
found in places that are not acceptable. An email will be sent to all
staff members regarding this issue along with the solution. Ellyn and
Erica met with Audrey (the site director) to communicate their concerns.
Ellyn will meet again with Audrey on Friday to create a lesson and help
teach kids for the Power Hour in the library.
- Kim Sutherland passed out the Math Committee's draft of the philosophy
and goal statement. The members read the notes and said all looks great.
In Process:
- We reviewed the feedback from staff at Acme regarding the Boys &
Girls Club. After our last meeting, Ellyn contacted Mike Baker to
communicate our concerns with him. One of the biggest concerns is that
kids are allowed to sign out and sign back in. Parents seem to be unaware
of this procedure so a letter was written to the B&G Club parents to
let them know.
