Mt Baker Transportation Department Award
The Mt Baker Transportation Department recently received an Outstanding Washington State Patrol School Bus Inspection Award for the winter and summer safety inspections in 2006. Districts only qualify for the award if the inspection results in 10% or less out-of-service items for the entire fleet with a combined two inspections. The inspection is very stringent and an out-of-service item can result from only one light being out on a bus. It takes the entire transport team, from drivers, to mechanics, to secretaries, to supervisors to attain an outstanding safety record. In her notification letter, Anna Esquibel, Regional Transportation Coordinator, wrote, “Please share my congratulations with your transportation team for receiving the Outstanding Washington State Patrol School Bus Inspection Award for the winter and summer, 2006.”
Mount Baker Nationally Certified Teachers Washington State is again this year among the leaders in producing National Board Certified Teachers, and Mt Baker ranks right at the top in Whatcom County! Among the seven county schools, Mt Baker ranks #1 in percent of National Certified teachers in ratio to total certificated staff. We are proud of the work our staff does with and for our students; and their continuing commitment to be not only teachers but learners, as well.
Congratulations to the following National Board Certified Mt Baker teachers ~
“Mountain Trophies” Appreciation trophies for Tribal Council and School Board members were made by students in Todd Rightmire and John Underwood’s high school classes. The Board praised the good work of the students and teachers, and asked that thanks be forwarded to them.
