School Board Meeting - February 8, 2007

 

The Mount Baker school board held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, February 8 in the District Office.

The following is a summary of the meeting.

o        State Chess Championship Issaquah High School – Feb. 9 and 10

o        Boys & Girls State Basketball – March 6 – 9

o        Band at Boys & Girls State Basketball – March 6 – 9

o        Wake Robin Forestry CDE, Longview – March 9 & 10

o        State Floral Competition – March 30 – 31

o        Wenatchee Forestry Contest – April 11 – 13

o        State Forestry Trip – April 25 – 27

o        State FFA Convention – May 8 – 13

o        Girls Wrestling Tournament – Seattle

§         Authorized Superintendent to offer “Kendall Fire Hall Property” for sale to Whatcom County Library System/Fire District #14 for a price of $208,000.

The Board Heard Information About and Discussed –

·        Elementary Visual Arts Curriculum – Trina Hall, Curriculum Director, formally presented the curriculum and requested the Board consider the materials for adoption in their March 8th meeting.   Ms Hall recognized the good work of Special Programs Secretary, Gwen Garrett, and committee members – Bev Siegele, Laurie Satushek, Cynthia Purdy, Liberty Sponek, Anna Wean & Gail Weiss. 

·        Several people spoke in favor of a Whatcom County Library being located in Kendall.
