Maintenance & Grounds Personnel Work to Prepare for Staff and Students’ Return
Maintenance and grounds-keeping crews are working hard this summer to clean, repair and maintain district buildings and grounds for the return of staff and students in late August. While school doesn’t start until Tuesday, September 4, there are many staff and students on campus early for sports turnouts and classroom preparation and set-up, so our maintenance people are making sure everything is ready on time.

4-H, FFA Members Will Open Northwest Washington Fair on Monday, Aug. 13
Opening day of the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden will honor the hundreds of local 4-H and FFA members who contribute to the annual event.
“The Northwest Washington Fair is blessed every year by the contributions of our local youths and many of them belong to 4-H or FFA,” said fair manager Jim Baron. “Last year we had more than 700 4-H and FFA members enter approximately 6,000 exhibits in the fair. Their cows, horses, goats, hogs, dogs, chickens and so much more are among the fair’s top attractions.”
The “Blue and Green Parade” – symbolizing the primary colors of FFA (blue) and 4-H (green) – will start at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13. FFA and 4-H members will march with their chapter and club banners to the youth stage in front of the Henry Jansen Barn. At 11 a.m., the grand opening ceremony will feature welcoming remarks from local dignitaries, plus 4-H leaders and FFA advisors.
