MOUNT BAKER SCHOOL DISTRICT #507 ***MINUTES*** School Board Meeting - Thursday, September 27, 2007
Special Meeting Minutes Board members present: Ellen Dodson Trish Hart, David Smith, Russ Pfeiffer-Hoyt, Jim Freeman Ms Dodson called the special meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
Mr. Pfeiffer-Hoyt moved and Mr. Freeman seconded to approve all items on the Consent Agenda. Motion Passed. 1. Consent Agenda a) Purchases over $7,500.00 i. Eileen Squires - $34,189.71 ii. ESD 189/Whatcom Discovery - $38,520.00 iii. Western Roofing Co, Inc - $24,986.20 b) Approval of Accounts Payable II for September 2007 Vouchers audited and certified by the auditing officer as required by RCW 42.24.080, and those expense claims certified as required by RCW 42.24.090, have been recorded on a listing, which has been made available to the Board. As of this day, September 27, 2007 the Board by a unanimous vote does approve the payment of those vouchers included in the above list and further described as follows: ASB Fund vouchers #30 – 47 in the total amount of $10,949.27; ASB Fund vouchers #356 – 357 in the total amount of $1,845.51; Capital Projects Fund vouchers #103048 – 103049 in the total amount of $287,540.00; General Fund vouchers #17100 – 17189 in the total amount of $72,600.67 and General Fund vouchers #102910 – 102957 in the total amount of $46,719.42. 7:25 – Adjourn Work Session Minutes 1. Deming Mountain Forest Management Plan - the board confirmed that the superintendent has been directed to negotiate with the contractor for the development of a forest management plan and to move forward with the implementation of the plan. 2. Community Communication - The Board had a brief discussion about communications. 3. Mount Baker Academy Update – The Board had a brief discussion about the MBA.

5. Maple Falls School Project – The Board was informed about a community meeting that took place about the district’s plan to offer the Maple Falls school property for sale. The Board confirmed the understanding that the district will move forward with the business process of offering the property for sale while watching for any community initiative that might develop to purchase the property. 6. Maintenance & Operations Levy Timeline – An overview of the timeline was discussed. 7. School Board Planning – Please were briefly discussed regarding: Retreat – October 19th, WSSDA Conference, Meetings with ELT , and Work Sessions
