scholarships. college applications and job applications.

 | Look for opportunities in which you can match your career interests to
volunteer opportunities. Our school has a Student Service Network
(SSN) that can match your interests with community needs. |
 | Talk with your parents about your post high school plans.
Let them know what interests you. Talk to them about where you will get
the training needed for the types of occupations you are most interested in. Do you
and your family understand the financial aid resources that may
be available to you for funding your further education? |
 | Explore Options. Use the Career
Cruising career and college exploration program. It's easy to
use from home! Begin investigating careers that interest you. You
can even locate schools that offer training. Know where to find the
information you need for ANY option you are exploring. To access

 | Take the PSAT. This is a "Practice Scholastic Aptitude
Test". This test is offered in October to both sophomores and
juniors. This test allows you to take a practice SAT exam. Not only will you
receive projected SAT scores from this test but you will get a detailed summary of any
questions you missed on the test. This can be a tremendous help in preparing for the
SAT exam. Students sign up in the front office with Mrs. Pavesi. There
is generally a fee to take this test. |
 | Take advantage of the educational opportunities available to MBHS students.

 | Consider signing up for an Informational Interview or Job Shadow. The
career specialist can help connect you with professionals that are working in your
field of interest. Get connected to the careers that intrigue you. Meet the
professionals in those areas and pick their brains. Sign up to talk to the career
specialist about these opportunities. |
 | READ the Career Center Weekly Bulletin. Stay informed about
special events, student workshops and special opportunities for students. This
information is posted weekly in the bulletin. You can either
read
it on-line or you will find paper copies posted in your English
classroom, counselor's hallway and the career center. |
 | Go to Homework Help if you need it. Homework
Help is an after school program available to all high school students. On
Tuesday's and Wednesday's during the regular school schedule there are two
teachers available after school to help students with assignments. Ask your
counselor for details. |
