American
Civil Liberties Union Youth Activist Scholarship
Cash value: $7,000
Applicant must have demonstrated a strong commitment to civil liberties.
Applicants must also be planning on entering an accredited college or
university and have a cumulative high school GPA or 3.0. Demonstrated
financial need will also increase the student's chances of qualifying

It's Always Something Writing Contest Cash value:

The contest invites students 9th - 12th grade to share their stories
about cancer in personal essays of 500 to 2,000 words. Their stores can
be about their own experience of personal diagnosis or about their
experience with a diagnosis of a loved one, schoolmate, friend, or
perhaps about cancer in the abstract as it relates to them. Essays must

Applicants must be planning to pursue a bachelor's degree. Students can

program. Applicants must have a minimum high school cumulative GPA of

Edmund F. Maxwell Scholarship Cash value: up to

Applicants must be residents of Western Washington who are planning to
attend an accredited independent school of their choice. Students must
have received a combined score on their SAT of over 1200 (not including
the writing section) or a 27 or higher on the ACT. Students must have
submitted a FAFSA and demonstrated financial need as determined by each
institution to which the student has applied. Students fill out a
portion of the application and the school they plan to attend must fill
out a portion of the application.
