7-12 Science

In ninth grade Environmental Biology, students engage in a hands-on, minds-on analysis of energy and matter transfer in a real world situation.  Students design and carry out an investigation to determine the rate of decomposition in compost.  This study reinforces the concepts of photosynthesis and respiration that students learn in class.  It also teaches students the process of science, mathematical principles and how to communicate their findings.
