Health/Physical Education

The decisions that you make today can impact the rest of your life.  High School health students are introduced to healthy living and given the opportunity to discuss and practice living the life that is right for each individual.  Topics include; mental health, nutrition and exercise, body systems, drug and substance abuse and use, illness’, as well as sexual education and first aid.  It is the goal of the class to allow students to ask questions and speak with experts so that they can make informed decisions throughout adulthood.

 

HOW FAMILIES CAN HELP AT HOME

Turn off the TV

Encourage your child to play outside

Participate with your child in exercising, such as walking or bicycling

Instead of keeping sweet snacks in the house, encourage your child to walk or ride his/her bicycle to the ice cream shop

Be a role model to your child by exercising yourself

Provide transportation to parks and athletic events

bullet

Talk to your kids about drug/alcohol use and abuse

bullet

Get outside—have fun!
