Board Briefs Rick Gantman, Superintendent Board Attends State School Directors Conference The Mount Baker School Board recently attended the Washington State School Directors’ Association annual conference. Our Board attends the conference each year to stay in touch with current issues in education, recent educational research, and to hone their skills in the area of school district governance. This year our Board members attended sessions such as: Legal Foundations, School Finance, Engaging the Community, Early Childhood Education and Literacy, and several other sessions. This conference is important to the Board as they critique the effectiveness of our educational program and modify the District’s Strategic Plan. Thanks to Mr. Holterman On a separate topic; the Board respectfully acknowledges Rolland Holterman’s willingness to serve on the Board and his campaign effort in the recent election. The Board is most appreciative of Mr. Holterman’s ongoing dedication to the District and is committed to work with him and the voters who supported him. The Board looks forward to engaging the community in new and increasingly effective ways. Board Will Visit Each School Finally, the Board will be making formal visits to each school to observe school improvement efforts. The Board will visit Acme during January, Kendall in February, the Junior High School in March, the High School in April, and Harmony in May. These visits are in addition to the regular informal routine visits by the Board. |
