Board Briefs Rick Gantman, Superintendent Strategic Plan The School Board recently made some minor adjustments to the District’s Strategic Plan; the Nine Characteristics of High Performing Schools have been added, a component about early childhood education has been added and the need for a long-range plan to accommodate growth has been acknowledged. Furthermore, the Board has directed the school district to focus on three specific areas—please see the article below. The updated Strategic Plan and School Board and Superintendent’s goals for 2003-2004 will be available in school offices, at the district office and on the Web in early October.
Board Directed Focus Areas: Reading: analysis of data, staff development plan and results, instructional strategies, consideration of lessons about poverty (Strategic Plan Goal SA-2) Instructional practice: implementation of best practices (Strategic Plan Goal SA-1, Objective 1B) Extra/co-curricular programs: Development and connection to the educational program, analysis of data, staff development plans and results (Strategic Plan Goal SA-4)
Report Cards Available On-Line As part of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, individual schools and districts must provide the public with performance reports. These performance reports are often referred to as “report cards.” Washington State’s Office of the Superintendent for Public Instruction has provided these report cards for all schools and districts in Washington State. You can review report cards for MBSD and for any school by visiting the following web site: |
