Kendall Elementary School Early Release

The School Board has approved a request from Kendall principal Dave Boeringa for an early release on April 9th for all Kendall Elementary School students.  During a regular school day staff has no time to work together on their school improvement plan.  The early release will give staff three hours to continue their intense work of school improvement.   Kendall staff has been involved in a rigorous school improvement process and will need the time that the early release offers to continue the process. Last year, in the spring of 2003, Kendall had an early release similar to the one that will take place this April.

School Performance Visits

As described in the last issue of The Mount Baker Focus, your School Board is conducting “school performance visits” in each school this year.  The purpose of the visits is to ensure that our schools are continuing to make progress towards their school improvement goals.  The Board has completed their visits at Acme and Kendall, and will now be visiting the Junior High School during the month of March.

Board Work Session on Elementary Highly Capable Program

The School Board will conduct a Work Session on Thursday, March 25th.  Topics include: a recommendation for our elementary highly capable program, modifications to the High School Directed Study program, and possible development of Advanced Placement courses at the High School.  The Work Session will be at the District Office and will be from 7:00 – 9:30 PM.
