New Elementary Report Cards Sent Home - Available on Website

On November 14th the new Elementary Report Cards (Student Progress Reports) went home with our 1st through 6th grade students.  These Standards Based Report Cards show student performance related to learning goals (standards) for each subject area.  A Guide to the Report Card was also sent home highlighting the learning standards for each grade.  Copies of the Grade 1-6 Report Cards, as well as the Report Card Guides, can be found on the district webpage at www.mtbaker.wednet.edu.   Take a look!

Science Curriculum Being Reviewed

Each year a different curricular area is reviewed for improvement.  This year the focus is on science.  New K-12 science curriculum will be presented to the School Board this spring for adoption.  This work, being done by a dedicated team of MBSD  science teachers,  includes the examination of science learning targets, curriculum materials, assessments and instruction.  Through the support of the North Cascades and Olympic Science Partnership grant (NCOSP) with Western Washington University, the team is studying the research on how children learn and striving to align the MBSD science program to ensure high quality science teaching and learning for all students.  Watch for updates on this exciting work!
