Volunteers Needed — We are looking for a volunteer to help with coordinating our Annual Elementary Spring Arts Show in May. This person would work with volunteers to judge students’ art at each elementary school the fourth week of May and then facilitate another group of volunteers to hang the selected art work at the Deming Public Library for display. Call Trina Hall or Gwen Garrett at 383-2012 if you are interested in helping with this project in any way!
MBSD Spring Arts Show: Students’ art will be on display at each elementary school May 15th—25th. Selected pieces will then be hung at the Deming Public Library May 30th—June 9th. Students can bring artwork they have created at home, or they may select pieces from artwork done at school.
The Sixth Annual Children’s Gallery Walk takes place Friday, May 5th in Bellingham. The first gallery walk began with 300 pieces of Mt Baker students’ artwork. The event has since grown to include artwork from over 3000 children countywide! We are proud that MBSD, through an Arts In Education grant and under the leadership and vision of Gail Weiss, took part in initiating this special event to honor and celebrate our children’s creative accomplishments.
