OSPI WASL RESOURCES - Resources for teachers, parents and students to better understand the WASL and the WASL requirements and to assist with interpreting student WASL results.  In addition, the MBSD provides the MOUNT BAKER WASL INFORMATION CENTER - This is WASL information tailored to our own students and families.

LUNCH MENUS AVAILABLE - Breakfast and Lunch menus are made available online throughout the year.  In addition, our food services program has made available the necessary information to apply for participation in the Free & Reduced Lunch Program.  Look for the link to "Breakfast/Lunch Menus" in the left-hand navigation column throughout the year for updated menus.

HEALTHY YOUTH SURVEY - On October 13 – 17th , 2008 all 6th, 8th, 10th & 12th grade students attending Mount Baker School District  will be taking the 2008 Healthy Youth Survey.

FREE & REDUCED APPLICATIONS need to be filled out each year. Last year’s application expires in October so please get your application turned in as soon as possible. If you have any question please call Terri Maleng-Food Service Secretary 383 2065

GYMNASIUM - Many of you may have heard our gym is out of commission due to a water leak which has since been repaired. Removal of the current gym floor began on Monday Sept. 22nd and we are hopeful construction will be completed by the middle of November. Until the gym is finished we will have to postpone our end of the month assemblies. We thank you for your patience during our construction process.

BUS NOTES - if your student is not going home in the usual fashion whether it is being picked up or on the bus, we request if you would please send a note with your student in the morning to give to the teacher. If they are to ride the bus to another house other than their own, please include the address on the note as well as not all bus drivers are familiar with everyone.

STUDENT EMERGENCY INFORMATION SHEETS - Thank you if you have all ready returned your completed sheet to school. For those who have not, please take a moment to complete it and return it to the school. It is crucial for the safety of your children that we have updated information for them in case of a sickness or an emergency. Thank you.

DO YOU HAVE A CHILD OR KNOW OF A CHILD WHO WILL BE STARTING KINDERGARTEN NEXT YEAR - READY! for Kindergarten is a parent education program that provides information, materials, educational toys, and encouragement to help parents get their 4 & 5 year-olds ready for kindergarten. Parents attend three FREE classes - one in fall, another in winter, and the final one in spring.  Classes are 2 hours long in fall, and 1-½ hours in winter and spring.  All classes are taught by a Mt. Baker School District Kindergarten Teacher and offer free childcare. For more information or to register, call the READY! for Kindergarten coordinator Lindsay Poynter at 383-2055 or email lpoynter@mtbaker.wednet.edu.  Space is limited.  Please call today!

HARMONY PTA HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL - Even though the gym will still be closed, the Carnival will continue as usual. Doors will open 5 pm and games will start at 5:30 pm and last until 8 pm. Watch for more information to come home next month.

WHATCOM ALLIANCE FOR HEALTHCARE ACCESS - Does your family need access to affordable health care?  The Mount Baker School District has partnered with WAHA and DSHS to help families access affordable health care for children.
