Position:           Secretary II

Type:               Continuing, 8 Hours Day / 190 Days Year

The District has an opening for Secretary II at the Mount Baker High School beginning at the start of the 2008-09 school year.  The successful candidate will collaborate with staff, students, parents, and the general public in a professional and appropriate manner; maintain confidentiality; comprehend and maintain detailed information; adapt to a changing office environment; exercise pleasant and tactful telephone manners and other effective public relations skills.  Affiliation:  This is a PSE represented position.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementation and maintenance of student attendance and discipline records; written and oral communication with parents and staff concerning individual student attendance; coordination of homework assignments for absent students.

 

  • Secretarial support to the Assistant Principal and general office duties including reception and telephone; respond to inquiries from the public and staff; cash handling and receipting.

 

  • Maintain student records regarding special health issues; dispense medication to students as authorized; provide first aid medical care to ill or injured students in the health clinic arranging transportation home as needed.

 

  • Supervise student office assistants, assign and review work, and evaluate performance for grade.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent,
  • Two years of increasingly responsible secretarial experience including records maintenance,
  • Demonstrated ability to work with high school students,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills,
  • Expertise in technology and experience with Microsoft Office and Skyward software.
