The table above shows the percent of the 4th grade class meeting standard on 3-of-3 tests, 2-of-3 tests, etc., on the reading, writing, and mathematics tests. This table includes all enrolled students, including those missing a test score on one or more tests (due to absence, refusal, medical exemption, etc.).

The initial WASL, administered in 1997, was a beginning point. It set a baseline for us by clearly identifying the gaps between what students had been learning and what we wanted them to begin learning.

For all teachers, students and parents, we continue to examine our curriculum and teaching methods to be sure that the new standards are clear to everyone. Students, parents, and staff will also understand the kinds of learning activities that are necessary to achieve the standards.

The goal is to give students the knowledge and skills they'll need to live, learn, and work for the rest of their lives. Helping them meet new, tougher standards will take determination and time - but we can do it. If you have questions about the standards or the test, please contact Mr. Burleigh (cburleigh@mtbaker.wednet.edu) or the district office.
