Air Raids-

Spent part of every night in an air raid shelter in our back yard there were 5 of us in there it was very cramped and cold. My parents had two ‘borderers’ from Ireland who worked at the local aircraft factory. They would pick me up from my bed and carry me to the shelter where I had hot chocolate and cookies and Tom and Jerry ( the two me from Ireland) played guitar and sand Irish and ballads it was kind of a treat for me exiting as I was only 21/2 years old.

Twice we missed our bus coming home from my grand parents house on a Sunday night and had to spend the night in a huge shelter with hundreds of people they all sang and danced to pass the time.

I saw only a few bombs that landed in our neighborhood but there was not much damage.
