The project itself was to design a park with the respectful math terms and practices of the section that we studied. At first the project was to create any park that the students wanted, But after Mr. Evans heard about how the town of Van Zandt wanted a park in memory of Josh Vander Yacht, who was killed in a construction accident in 1999, he assigned us this project instead. Mr. Vander Yacht offered to donate the basketball court that was going to be put in the park. Every student worked really hard to finish this project to the best of their ability and in hope of having their project chosen.
Parameters:
We needed to stay within the property
lines and mitigate all wetland zones and we could put whatever we wanted in our
park. The only thing we were required to have was a basketball court.
There is a church along the front of the property that we needed to
consider and a house on one side. One part of the site we needed was a
basketball court. The park builders also needed some sort of memorial
place in the park, whether it be a tree or a bench with Josh's name on it.
