TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
The
Art Department at Mt. Baker High School provides opportunities for
learning that enables students to achieve a high level of success in the
arts and other academic areas. We believe creativity is not limited to a
small, “naturally gifted” segment of society. The ability to create and
think as an artist can be developed by any student. Within every
student lies the ability to express valuable and unique ideas through
visual art. In addition to acquiring a solid foundation in design
principles and art technique in a variety of media, students will
develop skills in organization, problem solving, reading, and writing.
We believe skills learned in the arts reach beyond the art studio.
