REPORT FROM BASE CAMP - Principal Derek Forbes provides a report about the initiatives being undertake by the staff and students in the new school year at MBJH.

Students - Get Involved!

bullet

Turn out for sports.

bullet

Go to the junior high dances.

bullet

Try drama this year.

bullet

Run for ASB office.

bullet

Raise your hand in class and ask questions.

bullet

Work with different partners in class.

bullet

Try different things.

Students who get involved tend to do better in school. Involved students enjoy school more, and they make more friends.

MEET THE NEW TEACHERS - Read about five new faces on campus - one teacher, three student teachers, and one counseling intern.

JUNIOR HIGH 101 - An unusual class, JH 101 takes care of important and necessary items that don't necessarily fit into the logical curriculum of the primary classes taken by each student.

AWARDS ASSEMBLIES - Four times per year, MBJH honors students who excel based on performance, attitude and effort..

GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO RAISE GRADES - ‘After Hours’ is a homework help night that is available every Wednesday in room 212 from 2:45 to 4:45pm.  Students must bring a completed agenda and enough work to keep them busy for the entire time.  Students are not allowed to leave early unless their parent picks them up at the office.  Athletes can come for half the time and then return to practice if they have made prior arrangements with their coaches.

ASSESSING STUDENT READING - Reading Specialist Amy McCabe describes the variety of ways that MBJH staff gathers information about our students - with the goal of providing more appropriate instruction.
