Become a Facebook Fan of MBJH Mount Baker Junior High School has its own page on Facebook. In our work to provide better communication between the school and home, the Junior High will begin a pilot project communicating using Facebook in addition to the newsletter, mailings, and our website. The decision to use Facebook was made to take advantage of so many of you who are already regularly using it. MBJH Facebook status updates will provide you basic information about what is taking place here, with a link to more detailed information that can be found on our school’s website. When on Facebook search for MBJH and become a "fan," which will allow you to receive updates in your facebook "news feed" when we begin the new year.
MBJH "OUTFITTERS" At the end of November a group of parents met and formed an organization to support the students and staff at Mount Baker Junior High School. This organization is similar to a PTA/PTO that you may be familiar with found at the elementary schools. By forming they hope to;
The group will be known as the MBJH Outfitters. The term “outfitter” is commonly used to describe someone who acts as a contact person, who supplies materials/equipment, and helps secure necessary paperwork for a trip. As Mountaineers it is important for our students to have outfitters to guide them in their journey in 7th and 8th grade.
BOX TOPS 4 EDUCATION - We are continuing to collect Box Tops. Please bring them to the office. REPORT FROM BASE CAMP - MBJH Principal Derek Forbes introduces some of the things you'll see around the school this year.
AWARDS ASSEMBLIES - Read on for a description of the various awards that are given at the awards assemblies. GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO RAISE GRADES - ‘After Hours’ is a homework help night that is available every Wednesday in room 212 from 2:45 to 4:45pm. Students must bring a completed agenda and enough work to keep them busy for the entire time. Students are not allowed to leave early unless their parent picks them up at the office. Athletes can come for half the time and then return to practice if they have made prior arrangements with their coaches.
STUDENTS STAYING AFTER SCHOOL - Students are allowed to stay after school only if pre-arranged with a staff member or involved in an after-school activity. Students who do stay after school must be in a supervised area. Supervised areas would include a teacher’s classroom, Wednesday After Hours, or the library. Students who stay in the library must have a library pass from one of their teachers. If a student needs to take the late bus home, the staff member supervising them will give them a late bus pass. If a student is found on campus after school unsupervised, they will receive an office referral (which could result in an after school detention) and will be directed to the office to call their parent/guardian to make arrangements for transportation home. Thank you for helping in keep our students safe. MBSD ACTIVITY CALENDAR AVAILABLE - This is the online .pdf version of the 2009-2010 District Activity Calendar.
