Last year a few selected 8th
graders were chosen to go on the annual NASA trip. The students who wanted
to go had to write a letter saying how much they wanted to go on this trip
and how much they love math, science. They also had to get two teacher
recommendations and turn it in their science teacher. After a very long
wait, the office posted the list. 32 girls and six boys got to go. So to
control all these kids 17 chaperones were chosen to go as well.
To prepare for this trip, the students had to raise
money to pay for all the expenses. Then after the long summer and most of
the school year, they were finally down to the last day.
In the early morning about 2:00 am, (TOO
EARLY!!!) the kids got on the school bus and went down to Sea-Tac airport.
Then they got on a plane and flew an hour and half to San Jose.
From there they met their super cool bus driver,
Chuck. He drove the students around during their time in California.
The first day was Thursday. They went to the Tech
Museum of Innovation, Imax Theatre, Marine Science Institute and Laser
Quest and pizza.
Then on Friday they went to Pier 41. From there
they caught a boat to Alcatraz. After that they went to the California
Academy of Science, the Golden Gate bridge, the Exploratorium, Pier 39 for
dinner.
The following day was Saturday. They went to the
San Andreas Fault-San Juan Batistia Mission, Monterey Bay Aquarium and the
Santa Cruz Board walk which was FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!
Finally it was Sunday. The students went to
Stanford College. They spent the whole day there until 1:30 pm when they
got on the plane and flew home...
