Thursday began at 2:15 am (yes, in the early, early morning), meeting in the Mount Baker Junior High parking lot.  38 students, 13 parents and four staff members hopped onto a school bus for the trip to SeaTac airport.  Check-in and security was mostly uneventful, and the flight was smooth, landing in San Jose at 8:30 am.  One student was overheard saying, "It's time for first period, and we're in California!  Amazing!"

The group immediately took a charter bus to the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose - a very large "science center" that featured many interactive exhibits and also a "Super IMAX" film - filmed by astronauts on the Space Station.  Impressive.  After lunch at the famous San Jose fountain, the "NASA kids" went to Redwood City for a presentation by the Marine Science Institute, with many hands-on activities featuring the gathering of marine life samples and studying sharks.

The students then enjoyed a pizza dinner (Papa Murphy's) and a couple of games of Laser Tag.
