HURRY UP AND WAIT - MOTEL

Any time people travel with a group, everything seems like a "hurry up and wait" proposition.  The students have been very patient - and they are very good at entertaining themselves.

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA MISSION

Our first stop today was the San Juan Bautista Mission.  It lies right next to the San Andreas Fault - we could see the fault line just down the hill from the mission.  This particular mission was the 15th out of 21 missions created over 200 years ago in an effort to bring the church to California.  Beautiful grounds with distinctive architecture.

One note - our bus driver, Robert, has driven us for the last three years, and we are so excited that he is our guide this week.  He played catch with some of the students during our short trip to the Mission.

MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM

What a treat!  There were hands-on exhibits, some of the group watched the giant tuna being fed (they only feed them 3 times per week).  Many folks enjoyed the penguins as well.  Then we went to Cannery Row for lunch.  We found yet another Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant.

SANTA CRUZ BOARDWALK

Always a favorite of the Science Trip kids, the Santa Cruz Boardwalk is an amusement park right on the beach.  Roller coasters and other thrill rides were highlights.

SWIMMING AND MEETING

During our evenings, we (sometimes) have time to swim in the motel swimming pool.  We also had meetings every evening to re-cap the events of the day.  Sometimes we had trivia quizzes.  Tonight we worked on skits to review the important events of the trip.

TOMORROW

Tomorrow we go to the Technology Museum of Innovation in San Jose.  Then we head to the airport and come home.
