Mount Baker High School Mountaineer
Band
Preparations for the Parades
Victoria, B. C., Canada
May 23 and 24, 1999
| Anyone who has been involved in a parade knows that "hurry up and wait" is a
way of life. Here Angel and Leea patiently watch other bands while waiting for our
turn in the "Parade of Bands" on Sunday. |
 |
 |
One of the rewarding aspects of the waiting time is the opportunity to interact with
students from other bands. At left, Heather, Emma and Laura share stories with
students from other schools. |
| The Mountaineer Band uniforms tend to keep people pretty warm. So the obvious
question is, "Why are Amy, Paul and Lori sitting in the hot sun in full
uniform?" |
 |
 |
Our instructions were to arrive at the parade staging area in full uniform at 8:00
am. The parade started at 9:00. The Mountaineer Band didn't step off on the
parade route until after 11:30. Between getting up early and having so much down
time, several students found places to take quick catnaps. |
