DRUGS AND WEAPONS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS

 Drugs:

1.      If presence of drugs or drug paraphernalia is suspected or seen, notify the administration immediately.

2.      The building administration will investigate by talking to witness(es), student(s), search the student(s) and their belongings, including lockers and books, if necessary.

3.      Any drugs or drug paraphernalia must be reported to the police.

4.      Appropriate disciplinary sanctions will be assigned;

5.      Parents/guardians will be notified by administration.

Weapons:

1.      If the presence of a weapon is suspected or confirmed, notify administration immediately.

2.      Building administration will investigate by talking to witness(es), student(s), search the student(s) and their belongings, including lockers and books to secure the weapon.

3.      The weapon must be reported to the police immediately.

4.      The Superintendent will be notified immediately after police notification.

5.      Appropriate disciplinary sanction will be assigned.

6.      Parents/guardians will be notified by administration.

Contact the District Office (x4600, x4602, x 4606 or x4601.)   Support will be provided and will also handle initial communication with the news media.  Refer all calls from the news media to the Superintendent or his designee.  All news releases will come from the central office.  The Superintendent or designee will be the spokesperson.
