Activities

  • Physicals are strongly recommended because of our PE classes.

  • Sports: Must have sports physicals to play, take both the 7th grade physical and the sports physical to the Dr.  We will be mailing these forms home in the summer.

  • Grades - Quarterly grades with progress reports are sent home mid-quarter

  • Closed campus - when you arrive at school on the bus, you stay here until the bus takes you home at 2:30 or 5:00.

How is this school different from elementary school?

  • Teachers expect you to be an independent learner.

  • 5 different teachers - each with a different set of expectations.

  • 8 classes in total.

  • Social world becomes very important

  • Emotionally - a lot of ups and downs.  Parents, you will notice a big difference in your child during their years at junior high.  What will help them the most if you keep in close contact with their teachers.  Call to check if you’ve any questions about school concerns.  Friends become very important during this developmental stage and this will be a time when you as parents may not know your child’s new friends and their families.  Have the new friends over to your house so you can get to know them.  Developmentally, young adolescents begin to want to be with their friends sometimes more than families.  They will use the telephone a lot; they will want to be busy weekend nights; they will want to have their friends over to their house; boys and girls will be calling each others homes more often.  This is the time to keep communication open between kids and parents.

Schedules will be handed out the first day of school.

Buses begin their routes at 7:00 so your day will begin a lot earlier.

School hours are from 8:00-2:30.  There is an activity bus that takes students home after activities that leaves school at 5:00.

We have PE lockers but not regular lockers.
