CELEBRATIONS:

bulletMusic teachers have developed a progress report card program
bulletRobin Bruntil has developed a web based book report that is available to all staff
bulletThe library is purchasing find-it-all a search program
bulletMandi is fabulous and rescued Virginia from a possible computer tragedy

Grade machine difficulties:

bulletGrade machine is not exporting properly from XP machines
bulletThere is an upgrade available
bulletSome teachers would like to consider another grading program
bulletDiscussion was tabled for the time being, we will start the process of evaluating possible solutions
bulletSchools may purchase upgrades for the time being

Staff development position:

Mark shared the approved job description for the technology curriculum support position.

bulletPosting will be made in individual buildings
bulletBuilding principals will make a selection by January 1st
bulletChosen individuals will meet with Mark and Trina before the 26th of January to discuss how they will evaluate their buildings progress toward the technology benchmarks
bulletThese people will need to keep track of their hours so that we can evaluate the stipend and see if the number of hours given to them is reasonable
bulletExtra budgeted money may be available for teachers who have special projects
bulletThey will be supervised by principals, the curriculum director and the assistant superintendent

Staff development

Tech mentors met early in the school year they are working on various projects.  They will meet again after winter break.

Transitions program:

The junior high and some 5th and 6th grade classrooms are using technology to help with their transition to junior high programs.

bulletSome 7th and 8th grade core classes have teamed with 5th and 6th grade classes and are using an on line discussion board to talk about novels that the classes are both reading
bullet8th grade science classes are doing a common science experiment with 5th grade classes.  They are using an on-line discussion web to discuss  their results

Technology Benchmarks / Integration

bulletTrina, John and Max have been working on developing a scope and sequence for technology integration
bulletThey are working on developing a searchable data base of sample lessons that could be used to meet the technology goals. Lessons would be linked to subject area and essential learnings.

Inspiration Software:

bullet

Trina would like to discuss the possibility of purchasing inspiration software for the high school and junior high school and 5th and 6th grades as support of the writing curriculum.

This discussion was tabled until the next meeting when we have more time to discuss it.
