Staff development – Tech Mentor Program
bullet

Melissa presented her Mask Project 2004 that she and Bernie worked on together. There was a great deal of student buy-in and excited participation in this project.

bullet

Rob and Toby want to connect the Elementary, JH, and HS student support (counseling, etc.) through technology. The webpage is called Mount Baker Student Support and should be functional in the fall. Rob and Toby will come back and show us again when it is ready to launch.

bullet

Neal and Judy worked on giving students another way of demonstrating their understanding of science and math through the use of technology using PowerPoint, digital cameras, and a portfolio software.

bullet

Paula worked with Doug in creating an Access database for Diversified Occupations to keep all the required records in one place, organized, tracked, and available when needed, included state-required information.

bullet

Judy Davis and Stacy McCormack used Kidspiration and Inspiration for webbing and mapping of writing project. The 6th grade partners had to teach the 2nd grade partners. This really increased the 6th graders’ reading and writing skills as well as the 2nd graders’ skills.

bullet

Charles worked with Karen Hodges in the use of PowerPoint which she passed on to her students. The students created individual PowerPoint presentations that were pulled into a master project. The individual ones can be edited without affecting the rest of the master.

bullet

District Tech Plan was delivered to the State on time.

bullet

Mount Baker Institute
bullet

High Priority: Inspiration Training should be offered at the Mount Baker Summer Institute.
bullet

Judy Davis is willing to help with this Inspiration in-service but says it would be even better if her students did some of the teaching.

bullet

Tech Committee will pay curriculum rate for first 32 teachers to attend this course.

bullet

We’ll work on the rest of the Institute via e-mail and coordinate with Trina.

bullet

Laptop for WebMaster
bullet

We discussed the necessity and logic of getting a good laptop for our WebMaster but felt there were not enough committee members present to take action. Since it is our last meeting of the year, Sher made a motion via e-mail action following the meeting and it was decided to purchase a laptop for our WebMaster, Doug Sutton. We will purchase it before summer.

bullet

Agenda items for fall:
bullet

Using the District Tech Plan as a “living document,” making sure we are addressing the issues we have committed to.

bullet

Focusing on MBI and other staff development opportunities to bring our training up to the level of hardware/software we already have and continue to improve from there.

Respectfully submitted,

Sher Smith Ross
