Mark Challender presented an explanation of why we upgraded from NT4 to Server 2003. NT4 is shortly going to be going away from Microsoft support. Also, additional servers were needed. Looking to the future, we want to have document sharing/collaboration capabilities. Microsoft SharePoint is the goal. Possible target date is Spring Break 2005. Training will come after that. We will train tech committee, tech coaches, and tech mentors/ mentees. We will meet April 20 for a demo of SharePoint. Also, Mark and Byron are working to move our web over to the new server. It is a massive job.

The work done in August was behind-the-scenes work that made the system more stable and secure. It allows us to place more control on the desktops so there is less questionable activity and less needed repairs/rebuilds. Mark and Byron are able to be a lot more efficient in their work.

Mark would like to buy a Hard Drive Duplicator. It would make rebuilding a lab much more efficient. It would change from about 15 hours of time to about 2 hours. Cost of the handheld machine is less than $3000. The committee has authorized this purchase from our budget.

Technology Survey results will be made available to us so we can determine our training needs. One area of need is to improve our knowledge of databases. Gary will contact Becky Firth at the ESD about doing some targeted training. We each should take a look at the short survey.

We want to do TLP training for one school and for our technology team.
