Prior to starting your place study, develop a file & folder management system on paper much like the system you used in the Digital Tools summer training. You must decide where that system is going to reside. If your district has a computer network ask your building or district technology director to place your created management system on the network so that you can access the files & folders from any computer, or from home. Note that this task has two items to accomplish. First, you must create a flow diagram showing all named folders and embedded files and folders. Then, you must enter into discussion with your network supervisor to explain the process and decide where it should go.  Get help from your mentor if any part of this task becomes a barrier. Verification: a flow diagram showing all properly labeled folders & files inside.

Create a files & folders management system that will help with planning, organizating & evaluating your 'place study' project. This management file system should be created on your most frequently used computer, or your laptop so you can work on it at home.  Save the folder to your district network, if possible.  Complete Part #2 of the Digital Tools File Management Task Sheet. Verification: send  the file/folder system as an email attachment to djtuck@home.com

Important Note: It is important to share our activities with other participants and project staff. In addition, all tasks need to be verified by mentors before you can receive skills ladder points. To save time for you we have designed two different methods to share with teachers and complete the verification process.  Both of these ways involve sending results of your efforts to your mentor. You could 1) send an image and/or a short description of the task activity that you completed to your mentor for verification and, at the same time, you can post your thoughts on the 'Discussion Corner' page of our website.  An example of this type of sharing and verification would be appropriate if you had made a presentation to your faculty/school/ district. For us here at Digital Tools, a picture would be nice and a short summary.  A second type of sharing and verification would be in order if you have completed a file or folder assignment, like a lesson plan for a classroom activity, that requires some detailed file work. In either case, your work will be displayed on the project website.
