Weekly Update from the Superintendent

Dear students, staff, families and community,

Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, March 13, and Mount Baker Elementary Schools will be hosting in person kindergarten registration on March 15 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Register at Kendall, Acme, or Harmony.  All children who will be 5 before September 1, 2023 can register for kindergarten in their school district.  We can’t wait to meet our incoming Kindergarten students. If you can’t attend an in-person registration event, you can still register online.

YMCA after school programming is now available at Kendall Elementary.  Please see information on our website on how to enroll.  We are ready to launch the program as soon as we have more students signed up.

I announced last week that we have a School Board opening for District 1.  If you are interested, please go to our website for more information and an application packet.  Applications must be received in our District Office by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 16.  Interviews will be held at a public Mount Baker School Board Meeting on March 23 at 6:00 p.m.

There are some fun events happening this weekend.  The FFA Booster Club Dinner and Auction will be March 11 at the Log Show.  Doors open at 4:30 p.m.  There are less than 100 tickets left.  Email todd@mtbaker.wednet.edu for tickets.  There will be a roast beef dinner, bucket raffles, silent auction, and a live auction.

The MBJH Drama Department presents Waking Sleeping Beauty: A Short Comedy on March 10 and 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Mount Baker High School Auditorium.

Don’t forget to spring ahead on Sunday, March 12 for daylight savings time.  I am looking forward to more light and sun along with many days of spring showers.

Sincerely,

Mary Sewright, Superintendent
