Weekly Update from the Superintendent

Dear students, staff, families and community,

If you are interested in learning more about Mount Baker School District’s budget and/or want to provide input and ask questions, please attend one of our Budget Informational and Listening Sessions.  Each elementary is hosting a session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., so parents and community members can have the convenience of attending a meeting close to their neighborhood.  Flyers will be available at conferences with more information.

  • Monday, November 13 @ Acme
  • Tuesday, November 14 @ Kendall
  • Wednesday, November 15 @ Harmony

The Conflict between Israel and Gaza is disturbing to us as adults, so it is inevitable that children and youth are also impacted especially when they hear news reports or see graphic images through the media, including social media.  The National Association of School Psychologists has developed this resource , Supporting Youth Affected by the Violence in Israel and Gaza:  Tips for Families and Educators.

Our Drama Department will present The Revolting Teens of Sherwood by John Maclay and Joe Foust on October 27, 28, November 3 and 4 at 7:00 p.m. and on November 5 at 2:00 p.m. which will include senior recognition.  Students have been hard at work preparing for these performances.  Please plan to attend and be entertained and delighted by our talented students.

I look forward to seeing full stands at our Homecoming Game Friday night.  Here is a link for all Homecoming events. Go Baker!

Sincerely,

Mary Sewright, Superintendent
