Weekly Update from the Superintendent

December 15, 2021

Dear students, staff, families and community,

We were hoping to get through this week with no further distractions, but yesterday we had a gas smell in our 800 building at the high school that prompted us to move classes in that building to other areas on campus.  The problem has been resolved, but we are waiting until the morning to determine occupancy as a measure of caution.  The problem was a valve in the boiler that needed to be replaced.

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Karen Reich for her past four years of service on the Mount Baker School Board.  She has been a champion for all students, families, and staff.  Her decision to resign mid-term leaves an opening on the school board.  The school board will appoint a new member through an application and interview process from District 2 to serve at least until  the November 2022 general election, and longer if they are the successful candidate in that election.  Here is a link with more information.

My best wishes for a wonderful winter break. I look forward to working with all of you to make 2022 the best year ever for Baker!  My next update will be January 5, 2022.

Go Baker!
